    Questionable tattoo(pics)

So I'm very interested in joining the Marines but I'm a bit confused by the rules on tattoos. Thanks for any help!

Will this affect me joining the Marines??

That's a big tattoo, although it is mostly covered by your shirt. The only way you are going to know if you need a waiver for that tattoo is by going to see a recruiter.
    Good luck to you!

That one's gonna require a waiver for sure. Best check with a recruiter ASAP.

Thanks for the answers but could someone please explain. Even if the tattoo isn't visable in pt gear I still need a waiver? Why is this?

How is it not visible in PT gear? You're wearing a tshirt in the first picture, which will generally fit larger than the skivvie shirt you'll wear during PT and I can see ink.

I don't like the rules, but my personal feelings aside, that tattoo IS visible in PT gear.

Lol, my skivie shirts barely go down my arms...yea, you'll definitely be able to see probably 1/2 of that in PT gear.

The new tattoo rule states that if a tattoo is visible in PT gear it isn't to be larger than the tattoo wearer's hand with his fingers and thumb adjoined.

If you have really, really, hamburger helper, huge hands then you should be fine. If not, you're disqualified and will need a waiver.

    Haha
okay that's the part I was confused about. I didn't know if my hand had to cover up the entire tattoo or just the part that is visible. And the funny thing is, is that my hand is able to cover up 99% of the tattoo. Does that mean I'm alright? How difficult is it to get a waiver anyways?
Thanks again for helping me out with this Marines! This has been on my mind all day yesterday and today. I'm kinda freaking out about it.

Well, considering the Marine Corps is beyond meeting it's quota and is being very selective these days, I'd have to say that getting a waiver for that tattoo is going to very hard to come by. It doesn't hurt to go and ask a recruiter, though.

I just finished talking with the recruiters and they said it would be okay. They said I'm clear to join as long as my criminal record is clear...which it is. So I'm VERY happy!!!
