No one here can provide specific medical advice for your condition. If the medical officers you are seeing can't answer your questions, ask for a consult with a specialist. In most cases people with this condition are not diagnosed until it is found at an autopsy after death at an old age.

I am in the US Navy Reserve and have been enlisted for a little over 12 years. 1 year ago, in April 2010 I had a Kidney stone, which I passed with no complications. Since I passed it, I have not had any kind of issues with my kidneys... no pain of any kind. I have also had follow up checks and was told by my doctor, that my kidney's are functioning normally.

When I had the kidney stone, I learned that I have a Horseshoe kidney. As stated before, I have not had any issues since I had the kidney stone and it has been 1 year. My question is, will this be something they will discharge me for. 1. I never knew I had this anomaly. 2. I have been in the Navy Reserve for over 12 years. 3. In 44 years of my life, I have never had any issues regarding my kidney, other than the 1 kidney stone.
    4. Considering I have been in the Navy Reserve for over 12 years and all of the training and the fact that I have a Secret Security clearance, I am assuming quite a bit of money has been spent, and as I have never had any issues that has caused me to be unable to perform my duties...

What are the odds of me being medically discharged.

-The odds are Zero. You have one good kidney with a good creatine(Kidney Function blood test)therefore one kidney works as two kidneys-and you have no-problem...........Period.Enjoy your Secret Clearance -watch your back...........

As for a Horse shoe kidney-this means that the function of it-is not up to par o f a normal functioning kidney. It is much less.As long as you have one good kidney -that's all you need to live a normal life.Ofcause if you damage the good kidney-then you would first have a problem.Transplant or Dialysis would be necessary. So be James Bond for America............God Bless You USN-Reserve-Give my regards to ONI.

Last item, then I'm gone-Normal creatine is .8-to-1.3.At 1.4 level-this is the point where the Physician says"can do contrast"or"cant do contrast"-depends on age, diabetes, vascular, heart, respiratory, Hypertension and renal function.Find out what yours is-Then You'll know.Find out the bun of the horse shoe kidney also.

I see this was a few days ago-Well For Your Information Also.Beer is good for the kidneys-will flush small stones out.

While your at it-Have the Bronx Royal Salute-Ice Cold Beer in a Mug and a shot of Corn Yak..........Have two, three rounds of this and You'll think your on the synthetic pain med-PHENTINAL-It's pretty Potent.Yeah it's a Boiler Maker-but better Effect....Classier also. You know I could use a Coors Lite tonight.I didn't have one Sunday or Monday-I've got a Bit of a Belly-I look Pregnant-I gotta lose this weight.I'm Morbidly Obese-but my glucose is good.Anyway Folks-You cant say I Haven't bent your Ear-for a While. So Bless You All and Good Night.
