Unit commander gets Bronze Star
Lt. Col. Jerome M. Lynes, commanding officer of 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine
Regiment, will be awarded the Bronze Star in conjunction with today's 85th
birthday celebration for the unit.
Lynes is receiving the medal for his support of Operation Enduring Freedom
in Afghanistan, a Camp Lejeune Consolidated Public Affairs release states.
As commanding officer of Battalion Landing Team 3/6 with the 26th Marine
Expeditionary Unit, Lynes planned and executed mission in Afghanistan that
included securing the American embassy in Kabul and Kandahar International
Airport.
The observance begins at 7:30 a.m. at the 6th Marines' physical training
field.
