    medical waivers

i've been through meps and got my physcal. the doc up there said i had limited everison or limited outer range of motion in my angle. they temp. disqualified me tell i get a medical waiver. my recruiter sent the paper work to bumed and its been 3 weeks. I was wondering one how long does it usally take for an answer back. And two how likely is it that i will be a approved for the medical waiver.

Beef up your profile a bit more.

Expect a range of 1-3 months for most requests. The wait could be longer with the current tempo.

    And practice your duck walks.

Did they send you to a consult with an Orthopedic Specialist? I was DQ'd at MEPS for decreased extension in my elbows and my recruiter sent for a waiver with BUMED. After a month or so, it came back denied because he didn't send me for a consult to see an Orthopedic Specialist. I went, was cleared by the Orth. Specialist, we re-submitted and I was cleared by BUMED and good to go.

My original MEPS phys was in July and I was finally cleared around November sometime (this was in 1996 so my memory is a little foggy). Hope this helps

ya i went to the ortho consult the same day i was at meps. Submitted to bumed that day it was oct 23. today starts the 3rd week. so there could be a good chance for a waiver.
