uniforms for re-enlistment.

hello everyone,

my husband is going to be reenlisting in Jan. we are curious as to what basic set up of uniforms does he need? we still have a few sets of the digitals. is he still able to use them or will he need to get all new sets?. we also heard that when he reenlists he get a clothing allowence up front to get all the uniforms he needs before he reports in to his assigned unit. how true is this. thank u so much for ur help...sorry i forgot to mention that he has been out of active duty since 2005 and just completed his IRR time this past feb

as long as the digitals he has are serviceable they will be fine.
dont hold your breath on the uniform allowance, i came back in June and never recieved an allowance, nor have i recieved any issued gear.

but keep in mind i am a reservist now and reservist do not get clothing allowances, but they do get initial issue which i have not recieved nor have they given me the proper chits to request the gear. i have one set of green and one set of desert digitals.

i do still have all my woodlands though...lol

Not yet because they are not taking prior service during the first quarter. he cant submit his PSEP package till 01-01-10.. starting next month we are going to be getting all the paperwork together and all the medical and PFT stuff out of the way that so come 01-01-10 his PSEP will be complete and can be sent off for approval

he completed his IRR duty this past feb.

I would assume he would get a full new sea bag issue. I don't know how that is accomplished. There is a Marine on this site who has recently gone through what you are going through now. He's a SSgt and goes by the handle Petz. Send him a PM he would be your best source.

One thing I'm sure he doesn't have yet is the new running suit, and that will have to be initial issue as they cant be bought yet.

for the public record if you are off contract contract for more than 90 days you rate a whole initial issue.

you sign your contract at MEPs just like he did the first time. so civvies are fine. Then he'll work with his RS to get his new initial issue and then he'll have to start wearing his uniforms. even if he has them don't tell anyone. Get all the free stuff you can, he rates it per the order.
