8th Marine Regiment returns from Iraq

Marines and sailors from Regimental Combat Team 8 will return after a nine-month deployment to Iraq.

About 150 Camp Lejeune Marines and sailors will arrive at the base this evening. The 350-man unit supported Iraqi civil and military authorities.

It was the regiment's second deployment to Iraq. The 8th Marines deployed in February of 2005 and secured Fallujah ahead of the national elections.
