MSG Duty Marines
Looking for anyone here who has done or is in the process of doing MSG duty. I heard not too long ago there was a MARADMIN out for MSG Marines, hurting for them or some such thing. Anyways, looking into it and its something I'd rather do sooner than later. I don't plan on re-enlisting and wanna get as many different experiences as I can while I'm in.
Yes, I know someone just ruffled their nose at someone wanting to do a B-Billet without re-enlisting. I want to travel and experience different things and get the TS Clearance. Alternatively I might be going to HMX 1, so I'd get a TS Clearance there too. I want to do some sort of law enforcement when I get out, preferably state but I wouldn't mind federal either. Government jobs really are the only sure thing anymore.
I was hoping someone could enlighten me as to who to speak to in order to get the package put together and what they thought about their experience doing it. So far I've heard nothing but good things about it but have only talked to a handful of people. The one common theme seems to be that its the ONLY B-Billet where Marines don't call it a waste of 3 years. Also, it's the only one I can do as a LCPL (what I'll be when I leave New River). I'm a 46 Avi Technician, and sometime during my enlistment they're going to want to transfer me to Ospreys, and months more of schooling just doesn't appeal to me, I've had enough of this gay student status crap. If I can get into MSG before whatever squadron I'm with tries to transition, I can probably bang out the 3 years and EAS and not have to worry about learning a new bird and spending 5 months back here in Jacksonville. Learning what wires go where, what this relay does, which DC bus supplies power to this system, etc.

Something to keep in mind, you have to be within 100 points of picking up Cpl for your MOS to be eligible. Just being a LCpl doesn't make it automatic.

Everything else I'll defer to Commdog, she knows all about this MSG stuff.

You can submit a package as a Pfc. if your command lets you go and you graduate from the school you are meritoriously promoted to Lance. The MSG recruiter was here not too long ago. Should have went but I want to do this next pump and probably make MSG my B-billet. My 1stSgt was MSG and all he has is good stories from it. Try for it, and push it as hard as you can.

just so you know, it doesn't count as a b-billet until you are a Sgt... b-billets are for Sgts and above to put on their fitness reports... so you guys can call it a special duty assignment.
STW... you hate school, you already want to get out of the Corps... I'd say you should just smoke dope and get kicked out... I'm pretty sick of hearing your crap about how you get treated poorly, millions of people before you have done what you're doing, they didn't cry like they rate something.... YOU ARE LEARNING YOUR JOB deal with it.
they way it's looking the 46's will be around until you are out... and chances are you'll have OJT and not go back to school... but that's from my MT maint perspective

I think it's pretty funny that his screenname is "StoneTheWeak" and all he does is complain about how hard it is.

I was definitely thinking about bringing up the same point on how all the other threads I have seen started by this Marine, have been whining and complaining about how hard his life is and wanting to get discharged. Now all of the sudden he is gung ho and wants to go do MSG. And from what I can tell is still in MOS school, and hasn't even hit the fleet. All I can say is wow!

well, don't forget how he talks about how he knows how everything works too.... and yes is still in school status.
then he's talking about wanting to go MSG, like he can just skip the FMF and go on a special duty assignment....

wow... and I'm not making you stay in the Corps either, so stop complaing about it... just like you're subtly trying to tell me not to complain about your posts....
you need to learn your place in the Corps before you really have a voice on how it sucks... when you mention how you hate school status, as I said before... millions before you. You're not special... you are ordered to learn that MOS, follow said orders to the best of your ability.
you are worrying too much about the future... re-read my last paragraph if you can't accept that statement.
I'm glad you want MSG, but to do it just to escape something you haven't even experienced yet is idiotic... so please, stop sounding ignorant.
now, as for the getting kicked out comment, I'm to blame by changing words around... but you sure seem in a hurry to get out when you just got in... tells me that your current personality may not be in-line with being a Marine and you're getting heat for it... or you think your training is a waste of time...
EDIT: @ yut... none... he grows balls online. He'd hate it if I was one of his instructors though.
and in person I'd probably deal with him just as I am now... calm and calculated... but he wouldn't listen.

Yeah I'm pretty dang sure I read a thread started by you a few months back, on looking for ways to be discharged for a mental condition cause you can't even hack it in MOS school, and I'm pretty sure other Marines on this forum can back me up on this one. You haven't even hit the Fleet let alone finished your schooling, and you are starting threads about how you can go about lat moving.
And to top it off talking to a SSgt like the way you did. If you were in my platoon you would be regretting the way you spoke to him for a week after the fact.
