    BC Glasses

I was just wondering, I heard that Recruits were now able to use their own glasses or BC glasses. Anyone know if this is true or not??

    Thanks in advance Marines.

I don't know, but I would think not. Wearing your own glasses would be a sign of individuality, which does not happen at Recruit Training. I went in 1996 and was fortunate enough to be a proud owner/wearer of BCG's. My guess is that you will wear them too.....enjoy!

I agree with fjmas......my guess (only a guess) is they only allow BC glasses for safety reasons too.

What really made the look complete was when our Markmanship Coach had us put white tape on the nose area of the glasses. This was meant to steady the BCG's during range, but it really took the term "BCG" to a whole new level.

Now they just have you flip them upside down and wear them on the range.

No, they don't let you wear civilian glasses.

You are still issued bcgs and you are required to wear them in MCT as well however some people didn't and never got told about it. I wish I hadn't stored my civilian glasses away during MCT because I hate bcgs with a passion.

I have never understood why poolees care so much about the glasses. You're going to be surrounded by recruits and Drill Instructors of the same sex. Most of the time you're going to be dirty, nasty, and ugly. Does it really matter if your glasses look good?

Honestly, go run, do some pullups, or worry about Suzie cheating on you while you're gone. This is an issue that has been covered millions of times, but one time is too many.
