FORT COLLINS - Staff Sergeant John Jones and his family received a special gift Saturday. They picked up the keys to their new home. A home paid for by Homes for our Troops.

In 2005, Staff Sergeant Jones was serving in Iraq with the 1st Battalion 7th Marines when his convoy hit a double-stacked anti-tank mine. Jones was thrown 25 feet through the top of his vehicle.

He suffered multiple injuries that led to the amputation of both of his lower legs.

Jones, his wife and their three children have been living in a rental home.

Their new house is a specially adapted barrier free home.

Homes for our Troops mission is to build specially adapted homes for severly injured veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.
