Thread: Corpsman Up!!!

Hello Everyone-Saw my Physician today. She is an attending Psychiatrist-I see her for"Tinnitus"-I get Zoloft-for the ringing. It really helps me a lot.I'm not service connected for this medication and have to pay the co-payment-even though my insurance company-pays for it.I'm service connected for Tinnitus-but not connected for the medication that helps Tinnitus .A side effect of this is that-I don't get depressed and that's wonderful.Another side effect of this is that it affects-"Libido" and takes the lead out of your pencil. This can be corrected by eating cans of baby claims-or other foods that contain "iron".Here's a secret I'm gonna tell you-all.When I had Mono-I started taking vitamin b6(para-doxin hydrochloride)-This was supposed to be good for the liver.I never tried or knew about milk-thistle-Any way the highest dosage-of Vit B6-per day is 150 mgs-or else you will get Nerve-Damage-If you take 100 mgs -to-150 mgs-you might be able to throw away your "Viagra"-Remember Athletes-were tested by Doctors for B6-and this was the highest dose permissible.Your All Welcome-My Doctor says I cant be on this site for more than two-hours a day.She said "I seem to be more animated since I joined Leatherneck.com"She see's a little obsessiveness -in the way I act.So I will have to cut down my time on here.Just wanted to let you know.Besides you can talk amongst yourselves-more-Who am I to Chaim in.She see's I have a little-survival-guilt-and have been reliving my Military experiences.Hey who know?-Not Me.This is a trait of ptsd-but not ptsd.so-anyway-if you want to see a great Flick-see "Walk-Hard "The Dewey Cox Story-with John C.Riley,Jenna Fischer, and Tim Meadows. You'll laugh your butt off............Nothing New with the Navy Med Thing Yet.I'm thinking now that HM1 DanM-is right-"Let them all do-their -job"Who the hell am I to say something?.bye for now

Hello Again-It's not that you will get nerve damage-It's you might get nerve damage if you exceed 150mg's of B6-Before I knew this-30-years ago-I was still healing from the Mono and I was taking up to 1500 mg's a day. I never got Nerve Damage from that. It's just that I saw a program on cable, with Doctors-Real Md's-that explained not to exceed the 150mg-dose.By the Way the other day I said that Mono-affects the emotions. It is actually-that Mononucleosis-affects the Liver and it is the liver that affects the Emotions .Also-what caused my Mono?-It wasn't Kissing -My Immunity-was damaged-and I was working beyond my Physical-Capacity -and my body broke down.It is actually a lack of Vitamin E-that causes the immunity to break down-thus letting Mononucleosis-to affect the liver and the spleen and the blood. My liver enzymes-sgpt-sgot-were way above 400.the norm as I said is no-higher than 46.My Bili-rubin-was very high-I was Totally jaundiced-When I got to my shared-room in The Long-Beach Naval-Hospital-The Patient-started screaming-"get that guy-outer here".The whites of my eyes were green-(Nice Day for an Exorcism)My Body was really crayon-yellow-so I got my own room. One day there was an over zealous Army Sargent-That said-"You Get Up and clean your area" I said "If I get Up I'm Gonna Kill You"-My Doctor appeared at the door and told this Sargent-"that I didn't have to get up.Navy Photographers -came once and took AP-Frontal and Lateral-Side-photos of me.I'm probably in some Pathology Medical Book -somewhere.So you Corpsman-keep up your vitamin E-400-to-800 IU's per day and you will never get Mono the way I did.I'm not sure this will prevent the Mono-that is spread by kissing or drinking from a contaminated glass.I personally cant have Vit E-alpha Tofcofinols-my liver cant metabolize-this type of Oil Soluble Vit E.I take a dry Vitamin E-less work for the liver. The Vitamin E-Asertate will work well also-with no problem.I have exceeded my two hours on this site-I come in peace-to cause no harm.......I DeDe Mou Now Bashee's and My Marine Brothers.

Hello-Everyone-B6 will take three or four days to feel the complete effect I'm speaking of.Give it a try-it's a lot safer than Viagra I believe. If you looked up B6-on the search-engines-you will find that it has many good effects. The benefit I mention is not listed any where.B6 does help carpel tunnel syndrome-some thing about helping depression-that might be a come-on.Same with improved brain function-don't think so.Ginkgo and fish oils will improve-brain thinking.Ginkgo Biloba works as an anti coagulant-not that strong-but those of you that are on a baby-aspirin-check with your M.D.Still no-word back from Navy-Medicine,all things being equal -I say to you all-Have a beautiful-night.Bye for now-By the way-the Mono-you get from kissing-is like a sneeze-compared to the Disease I had.Semper Fi my Marine Brothers.

Hello DocGreek and everyone else-Hope you all are having a great weekend.No-feed back on B6.Anyway I told DocGreek that I had some-health food stuff to share-but he never got back to me.I just have two more nutrients to tell ya about.Neither one of them are secret.First I would like to tell you about L-Carnitine-this is an amino-acid(protein)that strengthens the heart muscle. It makes your heart stronger.500Mg's a day is good. The other Nutrient I would like to tell you about is Turmeric Curcumin-this is a spice that's used in Indian-Cooking.Tumeric may prevent Alzheimer's Disease.May prevent cancer-works as an anti-inflammatory-good for rheumatoid arthritis .This may improve mental function also.....Check this stuff out on the inter-net.I believe I feel a positive and a better sense of well being-by using these nutrients. So -since I am a Corpsman-I'm passing this info on to you. These are just extra nutrients that cause better health-What's wrong with that?-That's it-The other stuff about vitamins you probably know.Of cause this info is for the older-Squids and Marines. You younger Marines-your in good shape-you don't need any of this stuff-maybe the L-Carnitine could make you stronger-but youth is on your side.Still no news from Navy Medicine-I'm not holding my breathe for them.....Have a good night.........Semper Fi.................Bye from the Bronx. This stuff is sold in Health Food Stores..............

Doc Peterson never poked me with a needle but he was clipper happy.
When we were going to be in the field for any extended time,
The Gunny would holler "Doc, form'em up!"
Doc Pete would make us sit on an up ended ammo crate and shave our
    coconuts like this.
That nut had these bad azz, battery operated clippers and plenty of
extra batteries. I remember we had to wash our heads first though.
He said the sand f#%&ed up the blades.
He was real young and always had this evil looking "GET SOME"
look on his face when he was shaving a grape.
    He'd say,"Go away. Next!"
Then he would turn around and shave his own noggin looking in
a mirror. He wouldn't let us clip him though
We were not alowed to touch his clippers.
    Gotta love Doc!
    Semper Fi.

Simple answer is no,not without civilian emt/paramedic certification.Right now the certification is not part of Hospital Corps training and is up to the individual if they have the time and opportunity .

This may change in April when the new training at the Tri-Service facility at Ft.Sam Houston starts. Several Army MOS 98 do require emt/paramedic certification which is provided in their training.
