Devil Dog Lanes say 'thank you' to Pendleton mothers

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif —In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May as a national holiday to honor mothers. Since then, the action of giving gifts on Mother’s Day became popular.

As a Mother’s Day gift, Camp Pendleton family members are invited to treat the special women in their lives to a day at Devil Dog Lanes Bowling Center, May 10.

The Bowling Center is scheduled to offer discounted bowling prices to all mothers.

Moms will receive a special rate of $1.50 per game and $1 for shoe rental. Normal prices will continue to be in effect for all other personnel.

We want to create a good, fun environment for families to enjoy Mothers Day, said Jodie Lewis, Bowling Center manager.

The Bowling Center will be open from noon to 10 p.m. on Mother’s Day.

Devil Dog Lanes has held this event as an annual gift to mothers for many years, explained Lewis.

“It sounds like a nice relaxing time and I think my mom would really enjoy it,” said Lance Cpl. Courtney L. Kirsch, financial systems analysts, Headquarters and Service Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Base.
