..but not much about the 0312, 0314, 0316! I know all from the about.com source, but was wondering if someone from the actual MOS or FMF that has come in contact with/trained with these has some more info, first hand. Browsing this site has taught me way more than reading info from numerous sites and other generic forums, since info comes first hand, and it's unbelievable how much more one can learn from you guys here then elsewhere (off course, I mean in real life too - as suggested by a Marine friend "Talk only to people that are in..") - too much to list as examples, but from infantry to transport and MP topic's, about.com serves as a numerical MOS ID list in comparison (no pun intended)...

Since it states PFC+, I assume that most people have to do a lat move into this MOS from 03xx's, or what? Are all members of the craft equally trained to man it, or are there designated drivers/gunners...? How often are these units used today - do they just get integrated into regular Infantry units and used as needed, or are they dedicated to riverine warfare/role?
Last, but not least (for now), how similar are they to the Navy's SWCC's (swicks)? I know it's a general question, but just developing a broader spectrum for discussion...

Hopefully I didn't break any rules, but these specialities caught my eye the other day as I was going down the list, so after incomplete research, got really curious and intrigued by it.. and again, so far so good, this forum provided invaluable source of information..

To answer your question about PFC, if they are anything like 0313, it is the time required for recruit training, ITB and then follow on schooling, one would have to be at least PFC. Also note that BRC and OJT as a coxswain can qualify for the MOS in place of the formal SOTG schools...
