I am not sure, but I kind of remember reading something years ago that you should not wear the uniform to a court room. Unless of course its a military court. Why would a Marine want to wear the uniform to a court in the first place??

You can wear a uniform, but why is he going to court?

2dMaintBnQC: How are things at Rough & Ready Island? I did a tour of I&I Duty there in 1956. At the time the Reserve Unit was the 4th Supply Bn. There was a Lt. Tiago in the Reserve Unit that was a Farmer in Tracy. I heard he became a General. We only had about 6 Active Duty Marines on the Staff. Both of my sons were born at St. Josephs hospital.

I've worn my uniform to court no problem. I can tell you there is nothing to be gained by doing so. I wore mine because I didn't own a suit. When I was a brig chaser I occasionally had to escort a prisoner to civilian courts and we both wore our charlies every time. Didn't Oliver North wear his uniform in every single one of his court appearances?

I got out of two speeding tickets that way.

I was just hoping I wouldn't get the book thrown at me if I wore my uniform

Rough and ready is closed down. The golfcourse was the last to go. I walked around out there not to long ago just for fun. Kinda eirie seeing all the abandoned buildings. He wants to were his uniform cuz it might look good infront of the judge. He's going up for assault that he commited in a bar fight. We went in the buddy program together. I thought it might look poorly on the usmc.

1: What is he there for? Defendant, Victim, Witness?

2: Going to totally depend on that.

Then it's going to depend on what he's charged with. If this is just traffic or some nonsense, I'd go ahead and wear it. If it's something felony related, get the advice of counsel on it. I've seen judges who were former Marines get really pizzed when some Marine showed up in Alphas or something like that facing a felony scumbag charge, and after convicting them tell them how much they dishonored the uniform etc. Even watched one kid get stripped out of the uniform by a bailiff after conviction (Domestic violence) at the judges order.

    Tread.....carefully.

Pics would be great. Can you shoot them to me on a PM. Thanks in advance.
Did many parades in Stockton. Also color guards at College of Pacific football games, and of course burial detail. Used to be a Chinese Restraunt in skid row that was the best chinese food I have ever eaten. This place was called Un-Lock Sam's and when you opened the door you were in a different world.

Service Alphas should be worn in civilian court as it is the uniform for a Court Martial.

    From MCO P1020.34(web)

    1. The service "A" uniform may be prescribed for parades, ceremonies, social events, and as the uniform of the day. It will normally be worn when reporting for duty, unless otherwise prescribed by the commander. The service "A" uniform will be prescribed for the following official military occasions:

a.When assigned as a member of courts-martial or courts of inquiry.
