    Feces Occurs..

Although I hold your under-appreciated field in the highest esteem, no possible permutations of numbers exists which can render a brave young Marine immune to the whimsical ravages of old man Murphy....

That is true, sometimes we have no control over comm. It either works or it doesn't.

Then again, not making sure the boot RO (grunt RO) changes the battery or checks the fill can lead to a significantly higher rate of comm failure...Go figure... hmmm....

We have to rely on logistics just as much as any other mos. It's all part of the team.

Finest Fighting Force in the World, Rah!

Reminds me of the time I spent at combat outpost doing RETRANS for some unit we supported. There was only three comm Marines at the site, me being one of them, while the majority of the comm platoon was at Hurricane Point. From time to time we'd kill RETRANS to use the radio and call back to 2/5's COC. This was always done on TAC 2, TAC 1 being used only for the radio traffic that was more important. One particular day I get on the radio for something I needed. (at this point I don't even remember what it was I called for) 45 seconds after I start yackin' my LT shows up at the RETRANS site. (I didn't even know he had come out to COP. He's barkin' and *****in' that RETRANS is down. Aparently the unit to our west, the one we set up RETRANS for, was in contact at the time and had no comm for the 45 seconds I'd shut it down. I never made the same mistake again, and I was certainly glad when my LT had to leave as "boxcar" was headed back to HP.

Ain't none of that happened on my watch. We took pride in keeping our comm up.

Lesson learned, nobody hurt as a result of anything I did.
