recon tryout attempt

i tried to get the recon MOS but all the spots were filled up so i signed as infantry. my recruiter informed me that i will still be able to try out to make the cut for recon either in boot camp or infantry school. is this true or is there more to it than just being afforded the oppurtunity?

The recon contract does nothing more than promise you a shot at the indoc. I have never known anyone that didn't have that chance anyway. If you want it, you can try for it. But, it isn't exactly common for boots to make it through. Read Accord's account of his indoc, it is still around here somewhere.

I most certainly did not go, but when our ITB class voluntold a bunch of people into taking the indoc, several passed. I think a few DOR'd from BRC but that was mostly because the whole class went to 3/5 without them and started having fun.

It seems like 90% of the poolies want to go into recon or the snipers. Lol

The other 10 wants to be Forensic Pathologist/Neurologist or just plan techie jobs. Bottom line they all watch too much TV
