Hello. My High School Principle was Kenneth Justice. He served with the Marines on Iwo Jima. He was the main reason I decided to join the Marines. I did get to visit Iwo Jima while my unit was headed for Japan in 1988. I was amazed at how hard it was to walk off the boat and get through that sand. Thank you for your great service.

    Semper Fi!

I have also visited Iwo in '68 and what you guys did there is beyond belief. I am honored to know you!

    Semper Fi Sir!

If I remember correctly 1/8 was the 1st battalion of the 8th Marine Regiment. The 8th Marines is part of the 2nd Marine Division. The 2nd Mar Div was never sent to South VietNam.

However many Marines from the 2nd MarDiv were TAD to various units in RVN on occasion.
