Swimming
I was thinking of swimming to help my lungs out a bit. I am running a lot to get in shape for boot camp in a month and my lungs are not as good as they should be. I was thinking about running to the YMCA which is about a mile and a half away, lap swimming then running back. Do you think it is worth it or I should just run. Thanks Marines.

Lungs????? Do sprints till you die. 30 yds, as hard as you can, 10 times one session a day. EVERY DAY.

Swimming will definitely help you out with pull ups and I don't see why it wouldn't help with lung capacity. I like Sparkie's idea, though. I've always been a fan of killing myself on runs.

Read that ^
If you follow that plan you will be able to get a 300 PFT at boot camp, and your Drill Instructors will love you, plus good pro cons and possible meritorious promo.
That is similar to what I do for PT and I have never run below a 300.
