    My grandpa my dad and brother all went to mcrd sd but hubby is a parris island marine, my brother went thru the crucible, hubby didn't.....from what I heard the crucible is a tough time

    Was in Plt 3057, started boot on Oct 6 1969,spent christmas and new year in ITR at Camp Geiger,still waiting to get in Parris Island Marines social group

    I followed you 11 months later. I went through 2nd BN in Plt 2011. I was billeted in the old wooden barracks on Panama Street. Fortunately for me, I was finished ITR in time to take some leave for the holidays. Looks like I'll follow you into Parris Island Marines. Maybe 11 months later also.

    I went to MCRD San Diego, Calif. for my boot camp training. I left from Nashville,Tenn. and i'm from Huntsville,Al. Now here's what I don't understand,everybody east of the Mississippi went to P.I. Nashville,&
    Huntsville, both are east of the Mississippi. They sent me to California.
    Did that happen to any of you Marines ?

    Two guys I know from Cleveland,Ohio, both went to Diego, one in 66 and one in 67.

    The Mississippi River is not a hard line rule. Generally it is the divider, but people from Michigan and Wisconsin go to San Diego. I was from Michigan and went to SD.

    I went to PI of course. The only boot camp for women. Maybe they had more openings at MCRD San Diego, just a thought.
