    Why can't females be infantry?

I've searched the net and I just want a black and white answer. The only thing I've found is that the muscles are built differently in a female so we can't do the same things as males.
The whole tank thing confuses me too.
So why can't females be infantry or work on tanks and stuff?

I've always heard that its because they don't want grunts screwing in the fox holes.

    Women in combat,,,,,,,

Sorry for my answer, of which you may resent and find lacking in reason.

Best I can figure, our speces is 25,000 years old, more or less.

Since our creation, man was the protector of women.

Woman were the gatherer-life giver, man was the hunter-protector.

Things do change,,,but slowly, and not always for the better.

Isarel has had women in combat for a long time now,,,,,,,however,,,,
For a woman to be in combat, a man has to care less of the traditional role. Has to turn aside instinct, has to let go.

I am old fashoned, therefore I would not want to see you die before me.

If I don't fight for your well being, what am I good for?

    Thats my job!!!!!!!!!

BTW,,,Nice Myspace Pic,,,, However, this ain't Myspace.

Hmm. Thats interesting. I just think that since men and women are supposed to be "equal" they would make it so women would be on the front lines too. I would like to be infantry. Just so I could be a bad ***.

Men and Women are equal in the shadow of the cross, but different in roles.

You wanna be a bad@@@?, good start by being a smart@@@
A badazz is an idiot without potty training,,,, A wariror has a brain, a direction, and a goal. A belief in a cause bigger than him/her self.

The closest you can get is Military Police. No women can't be Combat Arms, but they do occasionally see action in Iraq when they go on convoy escort and manning check points to search Iraqi women. Being a women doesn't stop the insugents from trying to kill them. Several women have given that last full measure of devotion.

In my opinion, equality has nothing to do with this situation. It involves the roles that we were given not only by God, but by nature. It is (like it was stated earlier) our job as males to protect you whether or not you want to be protected.

This might not be accurate at all, but I always heard the military didn't want women fighting next to men because if both a male and female soldier are being fired at, the male is more likely to try and engage the female's attackers rather than engaging his own enemy or whatever. Not that I'm making the assertion that soldiers shouldn't do everything to help each other out in every way possible, but that's just what I've been told. Just my two cents. : )

Edit: Looks like I'm regurgitating what's been said. My bad.

While you are here on our site,,,,And wellcome, by the way,, consider maturity.
We have a wonderful WM here, Sis, Marine 84. In ordy, strapping bombs and missiles. I am convenced every day she did her USMC job,,,, she took to heart, knowing she was a big important part of the cause.....

Maybe you should discuss your question with her?.

You really wanna be around a bunch of horny guys out in a combat zone? Doesn't sound to smart to me. You will be around guys who are in a high stress situation... if you get where Im going... Plus if you died in combat how do you think all those men would feel like? If I ever saw a woman that was in my squad who is dead or dieing I think it would be harder than a male.

I can't fathom how the Army has men and women training side by side in their boot camp? And they've been doing this for many years.

When I was in the Corps 78 - 82, me and my fellow Marines always viewed a WM as a woman first and a Marine second. I knew one wacko that would salute any female officer, from any branch of the services, by saying that he first salutes her for being a beautiful woman and secondly salutes her for being an officer in whatever branch of the service she happened to be in. Luckily he always caught them off guard and they were somewhat flattered.

Sparkie is spot on in his reply.
I'm trying to avoid sounding cheuvenistic in my reply. In general terms women do not have the same physical abilities of men. Generally speaking not you in particular. Woman also have day to day and month to month health and hygeine requirements that men do not. You might suggest to higher ups the creation of an all female infantry battlion. Who knows it might fly. Of course you would have to find a thousand or so females willing to join it. There in lies another problem. Maybe one you can solve.

We could also come up with an alternate MCCRE for female infantry battalions ... much as the female PFT is the same but different.

I can tell you from experience that infantry is not all it's cracked up to be. You aren't out there kicking down doors and breaking things on a daily basis. What you are doing is praying to live another day and hoping that next hill doesn't royally kick your ass before you make it to the top. There is nothing glamorous about coming out of the field after a week or a month and spending the next hour in the rain room taking a cold shower and using a bar of lava soap trying and get the camo paint and dirt and sweat off your face. Ohh crap I forgot. No females allowed in that shower .... we got to build a special shower just for you and provide a guard so no grunt tries to oggle your naked butt while you wash up. There is no thrill in setting up a junk on the bunk inspection afterwards to ensure you haven't lost or damaged any of your gear and that it is clean. Dang it again. You can't stay in a male squadbay, so we need to build a special squadbay just for you so that you can stand the JOB and sleep without uncle pervy paying you a midnight visit.

Quotations noted: we aren't created 'equal' and aren't supposed to be. Evident in the vast and complex differences at birth. We also cannot eventually obtain equality, no matter how many surgeries and personality makeovers a trans-gender undergoes they will never totally cross over. Most parents are very aware that you cannot raise male and female children equally, it just doesn't workout.

I've labored hard in skillful occupations with women who were just as handy as myself or more so, thats fine i respect competence. But don't be fooled, the battle of the sexes is alive and well especially in younger people jockeying for position in life at a tough occupation in nasty conditions. There will always be underlying awareness or tension from both genders that can get coarse and edgy which is due not only to tradition but the scientific innate differences that an "equality" movement can never change or amend.

Then theres the obvious distractions from duty
