Fuji- Sept 1976
I think this shot looks about the same area ???
Wooden building in upper right was Mess Hall, I think. Quonset huts were on site then too.

Yep, that's the way it looked when I was there two years later. Still had the quonset huts.

Camp Fuji Fire Oct 19th 1979
Hello, Semper Fi. I want to say that I remember my f***en brothers at Camp Fuji, Japan Oct 19th 79. I still hear their voices and see their faces. I hope one day I may have the grace to join them in guarding heavens' gates. If there are any brothers who were there and would like to chat feel free to contact me. Gods' Speed

my husband was 2/4, and as you all at Fuji. But in the early 90's. Until 2/4 disburst back in 1993 ( I believe). Had a few go before him to Quantico ( the land of the Officers- as I call it). He's very proud of his 2/4 days. Just thought I'd share.

Semper Fi.
I was just up in Des Plaines a few weeks ago working. If I get back up there, I would love to bend an elbow with an 0341, and hear your sea stories. I saw Fuji in '76 (3/4), but remember the news. We (3/6) were deployed to GetMo when it happened.
Watch the thread 'Traveling Again', or PM me, and we'll knock back a few memories.

I was a Cpl with 3/6 in 1988 when we went to Camp Fuji. A few of the old huts were there and used as company offices. We were the second unit to live in the new barracks. From what I recall they were three stories high and had a nice view of the Mountain. We heard about the fire and how horrible it was.
Good Luck with your search.

Last weekend I got hooked up with my main Marine friend from Fuji! He is driving truck and was coming through NC and stopped to call everyone with my last name in the book! Got a hold of my parents, who knew who he was right off, they gave him my number and we hooked up! he was in my wedding and I was in his back then! We served 14 months overseas and almost 2 years together back here stateside! He remembers my first born, but he didn't know we had 2 more kids, and now we have 2 grandsons! He freaked! We stay in yesterday, while the rest of the world moved on! Almost been 30 years, but it was still yesterday! First time in my life I could talk about everything! We had alot of laughs, cause we had alot of good times, but we also cried about the bad and our brothers who didn't come back! It was a motivating time! We already have plans for him to get down one weekend and hit Camp LeJeune! Won't nothing keep us apart anymore!!!!!!
