If you look at the High Shooter, he came out as a LCpl.
I thought only the Company Honor Man could come out as an E-3?

Any contract PFC that receives a meritorious promotion in boot will get L/Cpl. The number of available meritorious promo's changes according to the needs of the Corps.
If there is only one available for the Company, the Company honor man will get it. If there are more, they will trickle down to the worthy PFCs.

I thought the same thing too...guess more than 1 LCpl can be promoted...

Needs of the Corps factors in Lance Corporals? I doubt that...otherwise there'd be a cutting score to pick up Lance and it wouldnt be automatic. An extra few LCpl promotions in boot camp would make no difference to the needs of the Corps.
