One of my old CO's, Col P. D. Woodmansee, had some unique shooting badges from what I can recall. I can't remember if he was "distinguished" or not, but I seem to remember it being mentioned before at VMA-223 and then MAG-14 HQ. He used to wear 3 of them when in Alpha's and Service "B"'s w/ribbons and badges.

We just missed shooting with each other. I met Hamler once, I don't remember where but I do remember meeting him. Good guy and great shooter.

Here are some articles of the 1996 Western Div matches. I had two good days and squeaked out a win with a 590-53v.

Here are some pics of the guys I won the Bear Trophy (San Diego) with.
Don't mind the stitches on my chin, I took a high stick in a hockey game during the matches and CWO Vasallo wasn't too happy when he found out I was playing hockey during the matches. These were from 1996.

Here is the 1995 MCRD rifle team. We had a cross-fire which cost us the win. I was lucky enough to win the Holcomb Trophy that year (Pistol) though we should have walked away with the rifle.

The "ladder" badge is known as the M1937, and was actually authorized for wear until 1968. The 'small bore' bar was authorized for USMCR units who used a 22 caliber rifle for qualification purposes. Furthermore, if the 'small bore' bar had a prefix of "SS" or "EX", it meant Sharpshooter or Expert. Our Marine here was a Marksman.

The Marksman badge is likely WWII or just before that time period, as is the M1937.
This Mardsman Badge was the badge I was issued in Boot Camp in 1953. After that for the rest of my Career I fired Expert.

I hate grave digging, but I remembered this thread and thought this picture would be a good fit when I saw it.
