Morning all ! Leftover pizza and coffee for breakfast. Rain finally stopped and looks like it's going to be a good one to work in the yard today. You all have a good one. Semper Fi !

I wasn't really sure where to put this, but seeing as though this is kind of a general social thread, I don't think anyone would mind it being here.

Long story short: I was a prior enlisted who was med boarded out due to a knee injury back in 2004. I've been attending college part-time for the past 529825 years it seems like and it wasn't until a week ago when I had an epiphany. I've been struggling with what I wanted to attend school for, what I wanted to do when I graduated, what I wanted to do with my life. The one constant whispering in my ear was the Corps. So I decided to research officer programs and other information and then it hit me like a ton of bricks. The Marine Corps is where I should look. It's almost beckoning me.

When I enlisted back in 2003, I made an oath to my country and myself to serve for (at least) 4 years. Sadly it was cut short, and what's even more sad is that I lost some of my best friends in Iraq. I was never able to join them due to my knee injury, and that still haunts me to this day. A few of them were KIA, and I miss them so. But now I have an opportunity to right a wrong, and complete what I set out to do in the first place.

I may make a career out of it, and I may not (most likely I will). But regardless of what the future holds, I'll feel a lot better inside knowing that I finished what I started 6 years ago, and perhaps I can save a little face for those close friends of mine I was unable to protect overseas. I believe things happen for a reason. Whether it was divine intervention or just happened by chance, the Marine Corps has never been more intriguing.

I meant to say a month ago, not a week. I've already received a waiver for my knee injury. Granted, I'm not guaranteed anything especially a commission but I at least know that I can submit my packet and try to earn it.

There's a thread on how to get back in. It's called "How to get back in... Redux"

  8. #4088
I didn't pose the question of how I go about getting in, I'm actually in the process filling out my application right now. I was just sharing some information.

Well fvck me, that's what I get for not paying attention to detail. Welcome to the boards and good luck on the process. You'll find a lot of like-minded Marines and Corpsmen on here who would willingly trade places with our brothers out there in the field taking it to the enemy.

    Semper Fi.

You wanna be a Marine and you wanna serve your country? I can relate to that. This is the greatest country ever in the history of this planet. I would rather you were a Marine, for obvious reasons, but the fact that you will not give up your pursuit of the military gives you a thumbs up from this old jarhead.

Afternoon all, Cool and rainy. That was my afternoon. Still managed to get in an afternoon at the Ren Fest. For those of you who have never been, the Ren Fest is awesome. I didn't wear my costume (Marine Corps Kilt) this year as it was to windy and cool, but the one in Shakope Minnesota in July will get me in proper dress. Loads of fun for all ages. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a chance to attend (they have these all across the country). And bring the kids, they will remember the experience all their lives. SF

It's a Festival that honors the old world from the 1500,s. It's a real Hoot! The wifey and me usually dress in costume for the Minnesota one. Just click on the link following to see the 2009 Minnesota one. But they hold them all over the U.S. SF

    Morning Leathernecks
    Couldn't sleep pain
Had a good day yesterday and only worked half a day then spent two and a half hours on the tractor making the riding ring better.
Made a mound of dirt to help other get on the horse. Been using a old water tank.
Eating butter toast and toast with cheese on it and washing it down with Mott's apple juice.
Hope all of you have a GREAT day. Semper Fi Redman1
