Morning y'all! Sunny 68. Been MIA for a few days trying to find a new vehicle. Found one, had to get my mom to sign the loan. Got all the paper work with my signature on it, called mom at work told her what the payments were. She decided they were to high. So after she got off work mom, myself and the wife took a trip to drive time - $1,700 down payment, 20%+ interest. But they may have the payments lowered.
That was how my only day off this week was spent. Semper Fi!

Just Overwhelmed.
Hi.
I know I have not posted in a few (a week + I guess). Not gonna make excuses. Actually, I began to think I was being a pain... Oh well.... Thanks for the "kick in the ass" Marine1955.
So where are we... I don't even remember...
Let's start with he is awake, and has made enough progress to be moved from the Medical Intensive care unit to the Respiratory Care Unit. I had a lawyer in and finally got Durable Power of Attorney on May 9th.
There he was, progressing along fairly well, and things took a turn to the left, or right, depending on where you were standing... See, all the drugs they have been using of-course have side affects...
They needed to do a spinal tap to rule out a few things, but his platelets were so low they had to give him a bag full..not too bad, just add it to the other bags hanging on the pole, put on another IV pump and plug it into the PICC line in his shoulder. That said, they did the tap...and he came up clean..no issues (this was part of trying to figure out why he was having the unexplained seizures)...
OK, and we move on... the lungs are clearing up... but the blood clots come back.. so... another bag of meds to dissolve them...fine... but now he is bruising up bad and, you guessed it, the platelets are running low again (they help in the clotting of blood). We do more blood work and gee... EVERYTHING is running on the low / below normal side of things...
Break out the whole blood and pump a unit in... wait a day.. slight improvement, but not enough...ok, give him a SECOND unit... and do a bone biopsy....
Now all this time they are trying to do some limited physical therapy to get his muscles working again... But, gotta be real careful he doesn't get hurt. See, the drugs have his built in immune system pretty depressed... but when they start to ease him off, he starts to get sick and his own system isn't restarting..to the point where he got "hospital (or bacterial) pneumonia".
And if this doesn't make much sense, don't feel to bad... lot of very educated doctors from many disciplines are all scratching their heads... let's see, we have Pulmonologists, Hematologists, Neurologists, Endocrinologists (did I mention his blood sugar will go down to 50, 70 being low normal, and then spike to 1,000, 100 being high normal?), Infectious Disease, Cardiologists and maybe a few more I can't remember working on this, along with all the resources of a major teaching hospital... Are we having fun yet??
Now, add to that the mountain of paper work to do with the Federal and state govt. for - Medicare, Medicaid, SSDI, State disability and Unemployment Insurance. Why all that? 'cause his medical insurance carrier refused the COBRA insurance application I sent in and they got 9 days before we hit the 60 day limit. Just hired a lawyer to take care of that. I let the previous one go. They had the paper work and did nothing for 10 days... not good... that's another battle I'll tackle once I get all the rest of this straightened out.
As for me, the Endocrinologist was not happy with my last visit, until I explained all this... his comment "no wonder your numbers (blood work numbers) are all over the place... let's see what we can do". Good news is, he is writing me a "Nexus" letter for the VA. I'll be submitting my Agent Orange/ Diabetes claim in a few weeks. Just covering all the bases.
Next I have to get my Neurologist scheduled (had cancelled because of all this) and get evaluated and tested for the Diabetic Neuropathy I have in both feet and my left had.
Oh, my nuke stress test came back ok and my neck arteries are clear and open. Yeepee!! A bit of good news!!
So, if I disappear for a bit, don't be surprised...
Yo ALL take care and drop me a line if ya want. Helps break up the day.
SEMPER FI !!!!

Fred thank for posting and keeping us up to date and one more question do you think the agent orange may have infected him and only came to surface now and that be the trickle down effect from the past.. I would check and see you never know it may be...

Nice car Jesse. Enjoy Brother.
I need a New Truck but living in New England I would need to stay with a 4X4.
I was thinking either a Jeep Wrangler X or a Toyota Tacoma.
I already had the Chevy, Ford and Dodge trucks. I need a change
If I lived where there is No Snow I would drive my 68' Camaro year round !!!
Semper Fi,
Rocky

Free storage!?!
Rocky, my friend,
I am thinking you need to bring your '68 Camero out here to the land of sunshine.
I can store it for you, in the garage next to the Vette. I'll even start is up for you once a week, at least. And any time you visit, you can drive in NO SNOW.
Hope you are doing well, and staying safe.
