Had a good Thanksgiving with my two daughters. Holidays is when we really miss their Mom and my wife Lorrie, been gone 4 years now.

Morning to all. Ate too much last night despite my intentions. Ah, well.

Enjoyed myself a great deal at #1 daughter's (still there actually). My son-in-law's grandfather, Nick, was over. He was a WWII Corpsman with the 8th Marines on Okinawa (at the end of the battle) and Japan occupation duty. Interesting man. We had at least one person representing each branch of the military, Coast Guard included, last night.

Nick was first assigned as a Corpsman at Parris Island before he went to the Pacific. He knew Lou Diamond and had some interesting tales about him. He said Lou Diamond didn't take the least amount of crap from recruits and had no problem using a little "extra military instruction" to make a point.

Can frankly say I had not heard of Lou Diamond before. So I googled his name. He was another Chesty Puller style Marine. Quite an impressive bio. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lou_Diamond

Morning All, Well survived Idiot Friday. Mainly by staying home all day. First weekend of my seasonal layoff. Boss says I will get a brand new truck with an auto transmission when I come back in the spring. Now I'm like a kid counting the days till Christmas. But I will still enjoy hiding in the house on those cold, windy days and feeling for those who have to work outdoors.

Naw, My Boss is a former Army MP and appreciates my Marine bearing when applied to my work. I do what I'm told, take care of the equipment, keep the customer happy, and follow the rules. In life I try to deal with things like I did in the Corps. By doing as I'm told, not making waves, and flying below the radar. LOL It took me two and a half years to get from LCpl to Cpl because I just did my job. That is why, to this day I can't tolerate kiss-azzes. I like being rewarded for my work, not my ability to suck-up.
