Just cruising downtown Jacksonville via Google Maps.
Anyone can confirm that the old bus station was located on the corner of New Bridge and Court St ?

Lot of RENT AVAILABLE signs around that area.
Looks like a 50 year old corpse with heavy makeup.

How about the bus ride from the base to Court St on a paydat friday night ?

What about the Driftwood Lounge or the Brown Bagger,are they still around? My Son is out there for Mos School will have to see if HE gets some Liberty and let ME know how things are.

This might be a different place but I used to hang out in Sam's Bar. It was located across the parking lot of the bus station in Jacksonville. Did you know about it?

Only place that I remember was in back of the bus station a no tell motel from the late 50's that charged room rates by the minute.

Im pretty sure the bus station was on the corner of Court and New Bridge Streets .
Looks like a bunch of Bail Bondsman have taken over what used to be the bus station

i remember jazzland when i was at lejeune in 76-80, when i got to cherry point in 83 i was told all that was left of j ville was a big parking lot, all the bars and stuff were gone, have heard stories recently on how camp lejeune has really changed, almost like a city

Just do google maps street view ..and it looks like a clean wholesome place.
All the fun places are either boarded up as you can see...or bulldozed.
Correct me but wasent Jazzland and Birdland across from the bus stop ?
If it was ..it got bulldozed, and the Onslow County courthouse expansion is where it once was,

I still managed to find a small bit of the ol days.... at the far end of Court St. and Chaney Av ...expect these places to go away soon.

Remember being at Jazzland in 1975 the night of the Ali vs Frazier fight the owner a big man would flash cards after every round. We used to walk from Camp Johnson to Jville we did some heavy drinking those day

I was at Lejeune from '84- '87,
Spent the majority of Friday and Saturday nights at either the Thunderbird or at a place called PJ's.
T-Bird had a House band called Reign that were great guys, and PJ's had a blonde DJ, i think her name was Connie?
I was usually in the "punk rocker" corner of PJ's...
