Mass High Tech: The Journal of New England Technology
Sailors and Marines on board U.S. Navy ships in the Pacific Ocean will be able to watch the New England Patriots play the New York Giants in the Super Bowl on Sunday using technology provided by a division of Raytheon Co., officials report.
The Waltham defense contractor said its Raytheon Intelligence and Information Systems division will broadcast the game to Navy ships in the Pacific Ocean using its global broadcasting service military satellite communications system.
The system is usually used to provide high-speed, multimedia broadcasts of mission-critical information to military and government officials, according to Raytheon.
Raytheon IIS is a Texas-based division of Waltham-based Raytheon, with revenue of about $2.7 billion and more than 9,000 employees.
Raytheon Co. employs 72,000 people worldwide and reported a 2006 net income of $1.2 billion on revenue of $20.2 billion.
