    WHEN THE STOCK MARKET CRASHES

When the stock market crashes - and I mean really crashes, we won't care about Britney Spears anymore. We won't care about Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Amy Winehouse, Jessica Simpson, or anyone else in Hollywood struggling through their fame and misfortune.

When the stock market crashes, we won't care anymore about the Oscars - what the nominees will be wearing on the red carpet - the writer's strike - who crossed the picket lines - those pesky paparazzi or any of our once-favorite TV shows with or without scripts - no, not even American Idol.

When the stock market crashes, we won't care anymore about Al Gore's inconvenient truth - greenhouse gases - carbon footprints - the ozone layer - the plight of the polar bear - Bill Gates' retirement - the Clinton/Obama feud - Dr. Phil's celebrity interventions - who's on Oprah or Martin Luther King's dream.

When the stock market crashes, we won't care anymore about finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq - finding bin Laden - spreading democracy - the oil shortage - the November elections - the EIB network - how many days Bush has left in office or whether a white man, a black man or a woman will replace him.

When the stock market crashes, we won't care anymore about the NFL playoffs - the Super Bowl - Tom Brady's bum foot, the New England Patriot's perfect season - whether Eli Manning will get a Super Bowl ring like his brother - who Tony Romo is presently dating in Dallas or whether the Tennessee Titans will keep Pacman Jones when his suspension is up.

When the stock market crashes, we won't care anymore about the power of positive thinking - the prayer of Jabez - a purpose driven life - global peace plans - the Aids epidemic - third world debt - seeker-sensitivity or which prosperity preacher is currently under investigation.

When the stock market crashes, we won't care anymore about our new year's resolutions - our expanding waistlines - clothes that don't fit - bad hair days - low-carb diets - reading nutritional labels - or keeping up with the Joneses.

When the stock market crashes, we won't care anymore about rush hour traffic - $3 a gallon gas - new car prices - where to go on vacation - where to find good sushi - asking the boss for a raise - pushing him for a promotion or just quitting altogether to find another job.

When the stock market crashes, I wonder what will be important to us? In light of recent events, it's certainly a possibility - many would say, a probability.

Could it be that, under such circumstances, we might rediscover some old-fashioned values - the faith, morals, principles, ethics and ideals of days gone by - the forgotten priorities and biblical standards of our grandparents and great grandparents who lived through the Great Depression?

When the stock market crashes - will it be a tragedy or a blessing - a loss or a gain?

I suppose it depends on where your treasure is, doesn't it?

"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." - Matthew 6:21

"There was a similar stock market crash in the US in 1929. Lets hope that things improve during these recession days and stock market open new ventures for investors and stock traders."

The US stock market crashed really bad way back in 1929. I am glad that even during recession period stock markets have managed to sustain their growth.

Just a year back, nobody would have thought in his wildest dreams that a company like GM will end up filing a bankruptcy in 2009.

Stock market is just the reflection of whats going on with the economy of any country. If stock market is up and and full swing, it is a signal that the economy of that very country is very strong and progressive.

And if the stock market crashes or dives 50% , it means the Democrats are in control. Study history.

I once asked my father's uncle how he survived the great depression he said, "I was down to my last nickle so i bought an apple and polished it all day till it was nice and shiney. Then I sold that apple for a dime. The next day I bought two apples and did and shined them. By the end of the week I made 50 cents. And that's when my wife's uncle died and left us a million dollar inheritance

    Morale Guidance

"Could it be that, under such circumstances, we might rediscover some old-fashioned values - the faith, morals, principles, ethics and ideals of days gone by - the forgotten priorities and biblical standards of our grandparents and great grandparents who lived through the Great Depression?"

I actualy agree with most of this post. The people of this country have truly lost sight what is important here. People should take pride in the communities. People should be more responsible about thier actions. People should take pride in this country and be proud to call themselves Amercians. Parents need to do more with thier kids and teach them better values. The so called celeberities are IMO are completly worthless when you take all the glam away. They live in a make beleive world. Now some of them actulay go and do great things, but most just do things to get more attention.

Here is a good example: Micheal Jackson died and how long ago was it? Police, firefighters and military die every day doing thier job and the media don't give enough coverage on these people. I don't see millions of people wanting to honor these people which is sad IMO. Those people who wear a unform and provide a service to enure our freedoms and security are the real celeberities of this country. But then again this is my view and others don't share it.

Honestly if people want to go to reglion to get some guidance in thier personal lives it could be a postive thing. As long as they are using relgion for the right resaons. I am very wary of relgious guidance since through history more bloodshed has been in the name of some God or Gods than anything else. And I have personaly seen people using relgion to gain money or power. But then again its a normal deal with people, some do things for the improvement of fellow man and others do things for personal greed. With todays education and everything most people should know now relgion is just a security blanket to help you sleep at night and to "answer" the question about the after life. Nothing more or nothing less. Again this is my view and most others don't share it.

The short is I agree most people do need to get a good set of values and morales, but those morales and values should not be guidance for personal greed.
