Welcome aboard bullweenkle! What did the Navy have you doing with that OS rating? Be sure to tell your son about this site and encourage him to get on board.

OS=Operation Specialist
Hey Yellow,
My OS rateing in the Navy was a combined job. I worked in what some know as "The Blue Room" or "The Nerve Center". I did everything from radar, communication, navigation, target plotting/planning, etc...
I also had a specialty school and tittle as ASTAC... Antisubmarine Tactical Air Controller.... controlling helo's and aircraft to pretend... lol... we could find a sub...
Really though, mine was a very tactical job with allot of radio communication with YES, even Marines. Shore bombardment even.. X/Y up/down.... all that...
I would have stayed the full 20 but was up for new duty station and orders. I had just bought a house and most of all, my teenagers weren't doing very good without Dad home...
Gee, that was a long story short, but, thats me... and I look forward to makeing my Son proud of himself even if it means Infantry. He does want to serve his country too.
So, to all of You Marines, we appreciate You and without you, we couldn't have the quiet/comfy dinner at the table nights we do. May God keep you all safe and get you home soon.
Proud to be American..... John

Hello fellow Marines...Im new to this site...happened to come across it by chance, but it caught my eye.
Im glad theres a website where I can be amonst my fellow Marines and Corpsmen (cant forget the Doc's!)
A little insight on me:
0351 Marine assigned with 3rd BN, 2nd Marines
Completed 2 combat tours in Iraq (OIF 1, OIF 3), and 1 tour in Djibouti, Africa
Honorably discharged after 4 years in July 2006
Ive been thinking a lot, and Im pretty convinced Im gonna find my way back to the Corps...not sure if Im going back as a grunt, but something tells me I probably am. I guess time will tell (and after I get this friggin DUI cleared up)
Anyway, its good to be here. Semper Fi, brothers.
yut yuuuuut!
