Where do we(the Corps) stand right now?

I was wondering, overall but especially the Reserves.

Q: Considering everything, all MOS's...is the Marine Corps asking for everyone to go over to Iraq or Afganistan?

Q: Also, regardless of what your MOS is, Can you be asked/told to go over and physically fight as ground force, legs in Iraq/Afganistan even if you aren't Infantry 03xx?

Q: What is really going on in Afghanistan, cause I have heard potentially that Marine Corps may exstract presence and shift to Afghanistan, so whats happening or needs to be going on there?

What are green and red zones in Afghanistan?

    hmmmmm

    Hope someone can help, thanks.

A Marine regardless of MOS is a rifleman....so you can potentially be in a defense situation. The Marine Corps is not in the habit of asking a Marine....you are ordered! It is the needs of the Marine Corps that is the priority to accomplish the mission!

    Poolee,
Check out the Commadants All Marine Posting (02/07) I think that sums it up as an almost certainty. I changed a few fonts so they show up in red. If that isn't what you signed up for, you need to have a chat with your recruiter before you get someone hurt.

    Partially reads:

THE MARINE CORPS REMAINS ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN COMBAT
OPERATIONS IN THE CENTRAL COMMAND AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY.

MARINES, BY THEIR PERFORMANCE IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN, HAVE
ADDED NOTABLY TO THE LEGACY OF OUR COLORS. FREQUENT
DEPLOYMENTS AND SHORT DWELL PERIODS HAVE BEEN THE NORM, YET
OUR MARINES HAVE RESPONDED MAGNIFICENTLY WITH UNWAVERING
DETERMINATION AND COMMITMENT TO WIN THE LONG WAR FROM THE VERY
OUTSET. WHEN THEY JOIN OUR CORPS, MARINES EXPECT TO TRAIN,
DEPLOY, AND FIGHT. THAT'S WHO WE ARE; THAT'S WHAT WE DO; AND
WE MUST ALLOW EVERY MARINE THAT OPPORTUNITY.
    B. AS OUR CORPS' POSTURES FOR THE LONG WAR, AND IN ORDER TO HELP
MEET THE CHALLENGES OF FREQUENT DEPLOYMENTS, I WANT OUR CORPS'
LEADERSHIP TO INITIATE POLICIES TO ENSURE ALL MARINES, FIRST
TERMERS AND CAREER MARINES ALIKE, ARE PROVIDED THE ABILITY TO
    DEPLOY TO A COMBAT ZONE.

    He said asked!!!!!!!!

Marines are told where to go and when to go there- and what to do when they get there. If you're the biggest pouge in the world you can still be told to pick up a rifle and go on patrol. Even the band has a combat responsibility.

If you aren't ready and willing to fight you need to do something else with your life.
