KC Man Accused Of Toad Licking Toad Venom Used As Hallucinogenic

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A 21-year-old man has been accused of using a toad to get high.

Clay County sheriff's deputies said David Theiss, of Kansas City, possessed a Colorado River toad with the intention of using it as a hallucinogenic.

Experts said it's possible to lick the toad's venom glands to achieve psychedelic effects.

Most pet stores don't sell the Colorado River toad because the venom can sicken humans and kill household animals.

"People used to do it all the time, but it got faded out awhile, but came back as a fad. Not a smart one," animal expert Danny Snyder told KMBC's Dion Lim. "The toxins in it can kill a lot of stuff."

Authorities said this is the first time Clay County has dealt with this sort of hallucinogen.

    Theiss was released on bond.

The toad is in custody at a police crime lab.

Well now, ain't this special? Here is just another example of an IDIOT using a poor, defenseless critter to satisfy some sick craving. In my opinion, don't waste tax dollars on this jerk, set him back out on the street. With respect to the Toad, put him (or her) back in it's natural habitat.

Someone once mentioned that it is past time to start thinning the herd, in other words, if the druggies want to commit bodily harm to themselves, let them and hope they don't get the chance to pass on the stupid gene to others (don't breed).

Oh, and let us thank the media for publicizing the fact that this Toad gives a high. Now a whole new crop of thrillseekers will be looking for one.

"The toad is in custody at a police crime lab"--hopefully in a tank and not a sealed evidence bag. Too funny, unless you are the toad. Who wants a slimy human tongue.......eh....never mind!

I say we put this knucklehead in a room full of those toads and leave him alone for a day! Matter of fact, if you're caught with one of these toads...this should be the sentence of punishment. If you live through it, you're free...if not....oh well...!!! Another bites the dust...or....toad!!!
