JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — The biennial air show staged at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., is the largest in the state, but organizers want more.

Starting next year, the air show will become an annual event, according to a story published June 27 in the Havelock News.

Organizers hope that an annual show will increase the chance of scheduling popular jet teams such as the Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds, Bob Kenward, marketing director for Marine Corps Community Services at Cherry Point, told the paper.

An annual show would also prevent confusion among first-time guests who often do not realize the show is put on every two years, he said.

An estimated 100,000 visitors attend the weekend show, which has historically been held in May. But organizers want to move the event to June for drier weather and to attract more beach-going tourists.
