BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A local marine who was killed in Vietnam 40 years ago arrived back in the United States Monday night.

Cpl. Jim Moshier was one of a dozen marines killed on June 11, 1967 when the helicopter that he and his recon team were riding on went down.

It's unclear if enemy fire or a mechanical problem brought the Sea Hawk helicopter down. Moshier was identified through military DNA labs in Hawaii.

Moshier's remains landed at LAX at about 11 p.m. Monday. They will be escorted to Bakersfield for a full military funeral Wednesday at Hillcrest Cemetery
