    Information on Marines In Vietnam

I'm doing a project for my Vietnam: An American involvement class. My topic: Marine Units in Vietnam.

If you have any information, could you please help me out?

I'm looking for things such as:

-Complete listing of units deployed to Vietnam
    -Location of troops
    -Casualties/woundings, etc
-Images (Action, Diagrams, Base layouts, etc)

Any help would be appreciated, I have already found some really good sites, and spent well over an hour just looking at the Virtual Wall...

Look under my post "Holy cow!Resources for all" for starters. THEN, look around the site. A lot of info has been posted already. Use the site search engine.

For example: "VietNam units" on the site search engine=

    four pages of info:

    http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/se...by=&sortorder=

In other words, much of what you need is already here if ya look for it. Maps of VietNam, Combat maps of VietNam. Lots of variations to try here and on the net. Oughta be a treasure trove of info out there if yer serious about lookin'.

If ya want it hand fed to ya, good friggin' luck, kiddo!

Keep in mind. Some folks might visit with ya, some might not.

If you want, I'll send you a list of all the rotary winged elements deployed to RVN. Or, follow the popasmoke link posted in WRBONE's resources thread, & go to the notams section. There is a list of each squadron & unit.
Here's a linkk to helo unit's 'order of battle'.

    RobertH,
I know that the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Public Library has quite a few books pertaining to the Marine Corps in Vietnam. A couple of them are titled, "Small Unit Action in Vietnam"( I believe that these are Marine Corps Publications). Since I really don't know where you reside, I'm just bringing the Public Library System up because you might get surprised with the information that is now available...if you are inclined to go this route. Good luck.

I've mentioned the public library system numerous times to these kids. They can get inter-library loans and have a copy of any book they want in their grubby little hands in a week or two, if it's not in their local library. There is a wealth of information to be had in the library system, including numerous books on military topics.

A few months ago I was looking for a hard to find book, there were only two copies in any library in the U.S. Using the inter-library loan system, a week later, I had a copy of one of them to use. Just go to the information desk and ask. They'll help ya out.

Just a note. I'm here 10 and 14 hours a day. I haven't seen Robert H since he posted this......

I ain't retirin' age yet. Got busted up in the Corps and finally had to acknowledge that the docs were right all along! LOL. I hate it when that happens. What do they know anyway! Kinda ****ed me off! Them bein' right all this time and me bein' wrong, that is.

The VA gave me a lifetime achievement award!

A cane and a couple, three or four bottles of pills!

I told them "It hurts when I do that." They said, "Don't do that anymore!"

    So here I sit! LOL.
