This is my first OP. Is this real? I see dates like 4 NOV 07. Anyway, I just stumbled onto this site, so, I'll just ask: I landed DaNang 27 APR 69 @ 0630. Within an hour the IIIrd MAF ammo dump cooked off...for two days. Spent my tour out of PhuBai. I was aircrew with HML-367 (Scarface) and HMH-462 CH-53As. The only time I got down south (DaNang) was in-country R&R at the Beach. Question: where exactly was the dump in relation to the R&R Center?
I spent almost an hour in a bunker that eventually came apart. Only reason my young-ass didn't get blown away was 'cause of a crazy Marine six-by driver who picked us up (kid deserved at LEAST a Bronze Star).
I know it was called ASP-1, or ALPHA-18; but what does that mean? Where was it, and where was I?
