Got a catchy phrase that expresses your emotions about voting?
Enter it in the Federal Voting Assistance Program’s voting slogan contest. The deadline is April 9, after which a panel of independent judges will pick the most original entry that inspires citizens to vote.
The FVAP holds a slogan contest every two years as part of its efforts to promote interest in elections among citizens covered by the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act. The 2005 winning slogan, submitted by Navy civilian employee Roy Clark of Jacksonville, Fla., was “Responsibility Has No Borders. Vote!”
What’s in it for the contest winner and runners-up? You’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that your slogan is being placed on the FVAP Web site, in the 2008-09 Voting Assistance Guide, on motivational posters, audiovisual materials and other FVAP publications and manuals worldwide. The winner also will receive a certificate of recognition.
There is no limit to the number of entries a person can submit, but you must submit each slogan separately, either by e-mail, fax,or mail. Complete information is available at www.fvap.gov.
All entries must include your full name (and service, if military), mailing address, daytime telephone number, fax number and e-mail address so that officials may contact you.
How to submit:
** E-mail: slogan@fvap.ncr.gov. Text only. One slogan per e-mail with contact information on each e-mail. Put “Voting Slogan Contest” in subject line. E-mail messages with attachments are subject to deletion, for security reasons.
** Fax: (703) 696-1352 or DSN 426-1352. Visit www.fvap.gov for toll-free fax numbers from 51 countries. Submit a separate page for each slogan with contact information on each page. No cover sheet is necessary.
** Mail:
Federal Voting Assistance Program
Department of Defense
Attn: Voting Slogan Contest
1155 Defense Pentagon
Washington, DC 20301-1155
Mailed submissions should be typed or printed legibly on regular 8½-by-11-inch paper, with one slogan per page, including contact information on each page.
