    Contract Question (2)

I will ask this agian. I signed up for Data Systems Field. I remember seeing the letters "BX" when I was showed my job at MEPS before I signed. On my contract it does not have my job title. It has in section b a place for annexes. It says "View Section C and Annexes" to see what anything in this space mans. I have two letters there, I'm thinking "A" and "B". ANyways, I located a copy of the DEP contract online and section C is a list of my rights. That means the letters are on annexes with the contract. In my copy of the contract, not only do I not have the secton C, I see no annexes. I went and asked my recruiter about this and he gave me some papers "Record of Military Processing" that have all of my information and in two sections say I am signed up for BX.

Concern 1. These papers are not signed off on like my contract.
Concern 2. You guys all come here talking about 03xx field (<--example). I just realized on about.military that my field is 40xx. Nowhere did I ever see 40xx on my contract or while I was at MEPS. I was just shown BX and I just can't see how 40xx and BX are similar.

I know you polees have contracts as well. Could you please tell me if it has the name of your field, or the number of your field on your contract, or if it has letters in section b which are explained in annexes with your jobs.

Please, someone at least reply to this. Last time I asked I had 0 replys, so if you read this and have ANY thoughts on the matter, please share.

When i signed my contract for Crew Chief (Im not sure of the MOS number, but i do need to get that) It had the special requirements for that specific job (I.E. Score Reqs and Swimming Quals OUTSIDE of boot) And then i believe i initialed a question that said something along the lines of "I understand that i am signing for Crew Chief of the United States Marine Corp". I BELIEVE thats what it looked like.

The contract that you have at this time is most likely a general or open contract. That is very common early in the Marine Corps fiscal year. You have 6 months before you ship and you will receive a finalized contract with all the appropriate changes before you ship. Dont worry your contract at this point is not binding to either party. Every year Poolees post your same concern and are stressed out over it.

Don't worry so bad about it at this point but DO question your recruiter on the codes. Tell him you want to see (in black and white) what codes are for what MOS fields - for instance, mine was WJ - if I had asked to see it in black and white (instead of listening to what my recruiter was saying) I would have known I was going into Ordnance somewhere (not that it was a big thing to me either way).

Okay cool. He did say he never really looks at these types of contracts, and since it is my DEP contract thats kind of what I was thinking. Although, im not quite sure what you're saing about 6 months till my ship. I ship in about 5 weeks, so should I be getting my final contract in sometime soon ?

    Thanks for all the replys

If I remember correctly - I didn't know 65XX what I would be until I got my first set of orders in bootcamp. I think technically the contract just locks you into a certain field.

BX = 0600 COMMAND AND CONTROL SYSTEMS =

    0651 DATA NETWORK SPECIALIST
    0656 TACTICAL NETWORK SPECIALIST

WHAT YOU SIGNED IS THE (SOU) OR STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING

REF, MOS MANUAL IS ONLINE OR STATEMENTS OF UNDERSTANDING AND PROGRAMS MATRIX

    I HOPE THIS HELPS

Yes I have been to MEPS.

My recruiter said I would get my actual contract when I go up to MEPS agian for shipping.

I am looking at http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlis...marinejobs.htm and according to that 0600 is not what I signed up for, BUT the two jobs you mentioned sound like the ones Ihave and are NOT in the 0600 field on that website. I dd a seperate search on goodle and I found a course for the job YOU posted and the class you take for it is exactly what I want to do.

So, while you did help. I am confused. Your jobs for 06 and about.mil's jobs for 06 do not match up correctly.

Thanks for all the replys though :P

The Enlistment option BX is for Computer Data Systems only not the rest of the communication field which would be BY. This is the enlistment option for the other 0600 jobs like radio operator and so on your are enlisting in a data job ask your recruiter show what is in the BX option or just give me a fax number and i will send it to you
