West-Pac: The Emperor of Japan has called for the teaching of WWII

Wow! There are many people that have been hoping for this for sometime now.

"...Now that the number of those who were born after the war increases as years pass by, the practice of mourning the war dead will help them to understand what kind of world and society those in the previous generations lived in," Emperor Akihito said, in remarks made on Wednesday, but only made public on Saturday.
Now how much investment do you figure the Corps got in making sure that the girl in the picture lives in peace?

This may be irrevalent, but I call for an amendment to the Japanese Constitution to allow them a full fledged military force, to promote the Ministry of Self Defense to full cabinet status and for Japan to become a global military power that is consistent with her economic prowess in order to counter a growing China.

Japan will not go back to the aggressive imperialist days of the late 1800s to World War II. Japan is a liberal democracy and no one leader has the power to bring the country to war like Tojo did in WW2.

Since Ronnie Reagan sold most of the U.S. economy to the Chinese the main problem in that theatre is Korea and Indonesia and an insurgent war in the Philipines. Japan needs to xpand her JSDF and Anti missle ships. But has no need for vast infantry forces. A modest elite Marine force will suffice.
But the U.S. needs to have a fleet in the South China sea, and ported out of Da Nang with the Vietnamese Navy as allies.

Japan can establish Naval and Air superiority over the skies and seas of East China.

That would be enough to defend Japan and check any Chinese aggression.

Two or 3 H-bombs would exterminate Japan. Japan has no hassle with China.

China is a growing world power and Japan has had a historical rivalry, if not hostility with China.

The diplomatic relations between the two states has been uneasy at best.

Obviously Japan would not be the aggressor in any instance, but China would dare not use a nuclear strike against someone under the defense umbrella of the United States.

    True.
But business comes first. China is the Japanese workforce. Producing goods that the Japanese cannot find workers to produce. Japan is in it's post industrial phase, while china is in it's neo-industrial phase.
North Korea is more of a threat to china-Japan business.
