    Hi Rob

Hi Rob followed your link from Once A Marine site. Interesting site our cousins have here. Might as well drag up a sandbag and stop the light swinging.

I'm waiting for the bleeding hearts to complain that the poor Taliban were being ganged up on by the Royals. Lets be honest among ourselves - there were FOUR of them after all.

    Good Job.

    180 medals for forces heroes
    By VIRGINIA WHEELER

THE bravery of British troops in Afghanistan is to be rewarded with a flood of medals — including up to SIX Victoria Crosses.

Commanders have recommended almost 180 awards for gallantry over three months of fierce fighting against the Taliban in Helmand region.

The number of VCs being considered dwarfs that from recent conflicts — a sign of how ferocious the combat has been. Four VCs — the highest medal for an act of bravery by a serviceman — were awarded during the Korean War, two in the Falklands and none in the first Gulf War.

Only one VC has been awarded during the second invasion of Iraq — to Private Johnson Beharry, 27, who saved more than 30 comrades’ lives.

Almost 100 of the awards will go to the 650 men of 3 Para who have experienced the bulk of the fighting against insurgents. Other awards have been recommended for the crews of RAF Chinook helicopters, who have rescued troops under massive fire, and the two-man crews of Army Air Corps Apache gunships.

The six VCs have been recommended mostly for the troops of 16 Air Assault Brigade. Among those under consideration is Private Peter McKinley who ran through machine-gun fire to save a US sergeant.

The Ministry of Defence yesterday refused to comment on the high number of recommendations for awards.
PM Tony Blair last night tried to defuse a potential diplomatic row with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf. He spoke to him for two hours at Chequers after a leaked MoD think-tank report claimed Pakistan’s intelligence service supported al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

Mr Blair insisted the report did not represent the Government’s view.
