Exclamation Operation Iraqi Freedom Theme song

Operation Iraqi Freedom Theme Song: 'Rich Man's War'

When will we ever learn? When will we ever see?

Jimmy joined the army 'cause he had no place to go
    There ain't nobody hirin'
'round here since all the jobs went
    down to Mexico
Reckoned that he'd learn himself a trade maybe see the world
Move to the city someday and marry a black haired girl
    Somebody somewhere had another plan
Now he's got a rifle in his hand
Rollin' into Baghdad wonderin' how he got this far
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man's war

Bobby had an eagle and a flag tattooed on his arm
Red white and blue to the bone when he landed in Kandahar
Left behind a pretty young wife and a baby girl
A stack of overdue bills and went off to save the world
Been a year now and he's still there
Chasin' ghosts in the thin dry air
Meanwhile back at home the finance company took his car
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man's war

    When will we ever learn
    When will we ever see
We stand up and take our turn
And keep tellin' ourselves we're free

Ali was the second son of a second son
Grew up in Gaza throwing bottles and rocks when the tanks would come
Ain't nothin' else to do around here just a game children play
Somethin' 'bout livin' in fear all your life makes you hard that way

He answered when he got the call
Wrapped himself in death and praised Allah
A fat man in a new Mercedes drove him to the door
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man's war

    Sarangel Music (ASCAP)
    Artist/Band: Earle Steve
Lyrics for Song: Rich Man's War
Lyrics for Album: Revolution Starts Now

So my question about this is. Did any other war that we have been in have its own theme song? Also who decided that this is the theme song? Also what are your thought on this song being a symbol for everything we are fighting for?

I heard about it on the news and i was shocked that there was a "theme" song and i wasnt sure if anyone else was aware of it. As to what you said i totaly agree with you.

Theme song? It's just media hype. Trying to stir the pot. Trying to make more controversy. Making up a story because they'd rather not have to print anything *gasp* positive.

    no theme song

they say theme song as that that is the song that defines this war (alot of people in the Vietnam era have said various artists music defined the "feeling" of that war. Same thing)
Watch Platoon or Full Metal Jacket or just about any movie based on 'Nam and you'll see what I mean

Yes, both conservative and liberal press have vastly blurred the line on reporting news and publishing opinion.

I thought the theme song for this war was "Bodies" by Drowning Pool

Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
Let the bodies hit the floor
    Beaten what for
    Can't take much more
One - Nothing wrong with me
Two - Nothing wrong with me
Three - Nothing wrong with me
Four - Nothing wrong with me
One - Something's got to give
Two - Something's got to give
Three - Something's got to give
    Now
Let the bodies hit the floor
    Push me again
    This is the end
Skin to skin blood and bone
You're all by yourself but you're not alone
You wanted in now you're here
Driven by hate consumed by fear
Let the bodies hit the floor

Totally agree with you Yellowwing, I love that song. Although it wasn't actually about Vietnam, I think it was in response to the Sunset Strip Riots in L.A 1966.
