    Memorial Day

    Tomorrow is a very meaningful day. Don't forget all those wonderful men and women who have given themselves in defense of our beloved country. God bless our servicemen! This poem is in dedication and remembrance of them.

    Memorial Day

    Today I stand in somber though
    Thinking of the men who've died.
    It is my freedom they have bought-
    A freedom that I'll never hide.

    In my mind's eye I see the shot
    Heard round the world, and then I see
    A war so very much hard-fought,
    And Redcoats fleeing 'cross the sea.

    I see blood shed in our Old West,
    I see it shed in Mexico.
    And then I see some of the best
    Was shed in Crockett's Alamo.

    More wars were fought across the map,
    Both here and there and everywhere.
    When one man fell and left a gap,
    Another filled his place with dare.

    Airmen, sailors, fly and sail.
    Soldiers, Marines, march and fire.
    I know they always shall prevail,
    These men of heart and willful ire.

    And even now they die for me,
    In desert known as hot Iraq.
    I just hope that they can see
    That here's one girl who's got their backs.

    God bless the boys and girls who go;
    Who go to fight; who fight to win.
    God, please somehow just let them know,
    I pray they'll come home safe again.

    I go to bed in somber though,
    Remebering all the sacrifice.
    It is my freedom that was bought,
    I won't forget it's bloody price.

    Well said, Amy.

    Thank you to all of the men and women that have so bravely served my precious nation, and thank you to all that continue to serve.

    ...we'll never forget a single soldier, airman, sailor, or Marine.

    For the Fallen
    (Laurence Binyon)

    With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
    England mourns for her dead across the sea.
    Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
    Fallen in the cause of the free.
    Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
    Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
    There is music in the midst of desolation
    And a glory that shines upon our tears.
    They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
    Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
    They were staunch to the end against odds
    Uncounted;
    They fell with their faces to the foe.
    They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:
    Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
    At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

    They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
    They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
    They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
    They sleep beyond England's foam.
    But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
    Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
    To the innermost heart of their own land they are
    Known
    As the stars are known to the Night;
    As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
    Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
    As the stars that are starry in the time of our
    darkness,
    To the end, to the end, they remain.

    I hope everyone remembered our fallen heroes today. No doubt you all did. I don't think any poems will ever do them justice. Poems and papers and songs will only scratch the surface. The sacrifice that has been made can never be fully described. I guess, after all, that actions do speak louder than words. Dear God, bless all those who given themselves for the cause of Old Glory, and may we Americans, and free people of the world, never forget the blood that was shed, the price that was paid, that we might live. Thank you for all these wonderful heroes have done.

    I saw so many flags today, and as they waved proudly in the air, I can only say, God bless America!!
