Marine Corps investigators are still looking into the circumstances surrounding a Friday morning accident that claimed the life a Marine sergeant.

Sgt. James A. Gill, 30, a landing support specialist originally from Sedgwick, Kan., assigned to Combat Service Support Detachment 24, 2nd Force Service Support Group, was killed in a head-on collision involving his Ford Explorer and a new Marine Corps tactical vehicle, military officials said Monday.

Staff Sgt. Jay Connolly of the Camp Lejeune Public Affairs Office said Gill was driving his SUV along Marines Road approximately a half-mile south of Sneads Ferry Road when it collided with a 7-ton truck pulling a trailer loaded with ammunition.
