The Corps has recovered the body of a Marine missing since an April 2 vehicle accident in Anbar, Iraq, officials said April 4.

The recovered Marine was assigned to Regimental Combat Team 7 and is the sixth confirmed fatality from the accident which involved a 7-ton truck that overturned during flash floods while traveling in a logistics convoy, according to I Marine Expeditionary Force spokeswoman Capt. Megan McClung.

Another Marine and a sailor, both assigned to 1st Marine Logistics Group, remain missing. McClung said the Corps is using “all resources available” to locate the missing service members. One Marine was injured in the accident.

McClung released no details about the injuries sustained by the surviving Marine, but said he was transported to a surgical unit at Al Asad Air Base, where he was treated and returned to duty the next day.

The names of the dead, injured and missing are being withheld by Corps officials until the Defense Department informs next of kin about the incident.
