A BLACKFEN man has come through a gruelling 32 weeks of training to become a Royal Marines Commando.

Daniel White, 21, who used to attend the former St Mary and St Joseph's Catholic School in Sidcup, is now qualified to operate in the armed forces on land, sea and air.

He earned his distinctive green beret at the Commando Training Centre in Devon earlier this month.

He said: "The training is hard and challenging, which is why I chose the Royal Marines.

"It's been a fantastic experience and it doesn't stop here.

"When I join up with 40 other Commando Royal Marines I could be deployed anywhere in the world.

"As a Marine, I can operate on land, sea or air and it is this that makes it so exciting.
