I believe the Presidential Security Detachment is stationed at 8th and I in Washington D.C. Your duty location would range from the White House, Andrews Air Force Base (Air Force 1) or Camp David. The Secret Service handles security once the President travels any farther than Marine 1 can carry him.

I would say, if you really are interested in this and think you'll qualify, then go for it! Not many people are able to claim that they stood watch to protect the President. Just be very aware that just like anything in the Marine Corps, there is an equal amount of dumb things that go along with any MOS.

Now this doesn't seem right, I've done the research and I see no mention of this any where (with the exception of Christmas Exodus- but I don't believe that is for recruits still in basic). Can someone tell me if I'm paranoid or if my recruiter has told me a bold faced lie.
I don't know about a bold faced lie but I would go so far as to say he is not accurate in what he has told you. I went to Boot Camp (not basic by the way) on October 21st and everyone stayed there through the holidays and up until graduation in mid-January. They are not going to send recruits home for Thanksgiving and Christmas during the middle of training because there is far to much on the training agenda to complete in the 13 weeks. The Drill Instructors have to turn you from nasty civilian into a Marine and they are not going to give you a break in between. The minute you ship to boot camp, your butt belongs to the Marine Corps and you lose all your rights to want to be anywhere except the grinder or the pit...unless you're told you want to be somewhere else in which case you just say "Yes Sir!"

If you have some reasonable excuse for needing to be home during the holidays (something more pressing than becoming a Marine) then you need to get with your recruiter immediately and explain to him why you need to wait. Good Luck with everything Poolee!

    Yut!

YOUR RECRUITER TOLD YOU THAT YOU GET TO GO HOME FOR CHRISTMAS AT BOOT CAMP? Wow. Look kid, no. This is the Marine Corps. You go where they want you to go, when they want you to be there. Get used to it or this isn't the place for you.

Also, my mistake. He was not married at the time, he got his gf pregnant, it was the pregnancy that barred him the job, then since he was dq'd anyways he married her.

I would suggest you push your ship date back...they don't let you go home, and it's boot.

    Ok,
Just found this, and being a former HMX-1 security Guard I need to set record straight for all you boots. Was with HMX-1 Security from Nov 91 to April 95, best time of my life!

This is an MOS open only to MPs 5811s. You interview at MP school and are chosen before you graduate. Also fleet MPs can apply.
Yes it is open to females.
Yes you can be married! You think the Major in charge to this special MP company is single…..
You are stationed at MCAF MCCDC Quantico VA and after you get your TS Yankee White and been with white side for a while you may be sent to Anacostia Naval Station to serve at the alert facility.
8th and I Marines do not guard Marine one, they handle Camp David
The President is all yours as long as he is under the rotor blades.
You are posted all over depending on mission
The MOS is not specific to the Security, it is Presidential Support Specialist.
You will stay at HMX-1 for Avg of 4 years or until 1st enlistment is up. The White House will spend a ton of cash on you, so deploying or going to the fleet before they get all they can is not an option.
You TRAVEL! A ton, after you go White Side, every where the President goes an HMX-1 Helicopter goes regardless if he flies on it or not.
You get a TON of Special training opportunities, FBI, Secret Service classes, not everyone gets, but if you are good, you get to do some serious cool stuff.
You will do very limited police work. You stand guard, yes boring at times. But at times can be fun.
NCOs are the backbone of this detachment. NCOs are your Platoon Leaders, Squad Leaders. As a LCPL you may be the COG. That doesn’t happen in the fleet. As a CPL, I was the senior NCOIC of a Presidential Lift Mission; I coordinated Security with SS, Local police, and the command pilot. You won’t do that in the fleet.

Any questions email me; I am always willing to answers your questions.

I tried to get out of the Army Reserves and go to the Marine Corps, however my paper work was declined by my Battalion Commander unfortunately.

My USMC recruiter asked me about my drug history, criminal record, and some other questions. I told her the truth. I already have a Secret Security Clearance with the Army (Don't know if that was a deciding factor). They offered me a Security Forces position that was stationed at Camp David.

Anyone have anymore information on this specific Security Forces detail?

    Re-re-reviving this thread!

Just signed up hoping for some solid information, and this thread appeared with my search criteria. I came to my recruiter originally intending to go the 0311 route for my first enlistment. Due to my ASVAB score and spotless record my SSgt and GySgt met with me and told me they had this job choice available. I jumped at the opportunity per the description was incredible, essentially sounding like SEALs or Force Recon training. Lately I have spoken with some Marines who say there are physical requirements that I do not meet, along with a certain length of service requirement. I have signed the contract, sworn in, and passed clearance, but I keep hearing dpubtful things.

I still haven't found the MOS number as well, but I do remember the contract was entitled "UW," would anyone know the MOS number? What specialized training does this entail? What are some jobs to look forward to for a second enlistment? How selective is the process? What may disqualify an individual in the future?

An answer to any of these questions would be very much appreciated, thank you.

there is no MOS number. you can actually find a copy of the contract online. you are UV Security Forces, and you're basically just infantry. here's where you can find the contract online. www DOT marines DOT mil/news/publications/Documents/MCO%201130.53P%20W%20CH%201.pdf (i'm assuming you know to substitute the DOTs with periods...this website doesn't let you post URLs). if even that URL doesn't go through, just search for "UW security forces (PRP)" on google and go to the 6th option down. page 87 in that pdf is our contract. this isn't really even an MOS. it's two years of embassy duty in DC, followed by 3 years of duty in an active infantry unit. you're basically just going to do regular security forces duty while you wait for your clearance to pass, then if it does, you'll go get your presidential security badge, and eventually end up in the fleet.

oh, and Security Forces (PRP) are NOT HMX. those are the marines that fly the president around in the helicopter.

If you have any questions about this MOS which is 8152 Marine Corp Security Forces PM me and I'd be happy to explain further, within the limits Operational Security.

And it is NOT I repeat NOT SEALS or Special Forces. You will get advanced training in Counter-Terrorism and you do have an improved chance of going to specialized schools versus Marines in the fleet. You will have a negative connotation in the fleet for your background in MCSF but if you do it right it sets you up really well for after the service.

PM me and Ill explain more.

Buick, As far as I know the Security Guard MOS is not open for females, even though the MP MOS is. HMX-1 does allow females in.

My recruiter just told me that I got this for my MOS, so EXCITED. Hopefully there'll be at least a glimpse of me on the news one day so I can say, hey! See that Marine lookin' sharp in his Blues right next to the President? Me. What have you done with your life? Heh
