Laamie, one wants to say congratulations, but one know the pain you went through before your wounding.
The Purple Heart should have been awarded years ago.
You and many other Marines on our mind recently.

    WOW

    OUTSTANDING BRO!

Every time I worked on the book and reviewed notes pertaining to that rocket attack, I though about you.

Congratulations! Now if they do it right, a letter will be addressed from the CG USMC to the nearest Marine Corps Unit, reserve or base nearest you , ordering the commanding officer there to award you the Purple Heart.

It will take a month or more for that to happen. But, it will be a great honor for that CO to pin that medal on your chest. Many of them, would love to have that opportunity as don't get a chance to award the purple Heart to a Vietnam Veteran.

Keep us informed of where and when, would like to be there.

    Update

Received the medal in a brown paper bag sevral weeks ago. I handed it to the 1st Sgt. at the Marine Reserve Unit in Milwaukee a few days later & told him; you keep it until you pin it on me.

The pinning on ceremony will be this coming Tuesday, August 31st, 11:00am at the Milwaukee War Memorial. The Mrine Unit to present the award is F/2/24-- most are now deployed in Iraq but have a skeleton crew on hand.

Millrat said he will be there for the presentataion, arriving on the 30th. Looking forward to seeing that ole Recon Marine again.

Had a nice write-up in our local paper about it. That's about it on the update bro.
