Joined the Corps on 6 Jul 1953 and reported to MCRD San Diego. No yellow footprints to stand on at that time. Assigned to platoon 202. Senior D.I. Sgt. Montgomery, D.I. Cpl. whatshisname, Pfc. Pallot.

I arrived Aug.23,1968 and left the Island on my birthday Oct.31,1968 Geiger/Schools Pendleton/Stg/Permanent personnel Camp Del Mar(1833) for 19 months.

I went to PI and started boot camp on Aug. 01, 1961 with platoon 350. We graduated on Oct. 24, 1961 and were sent to Geiger for ITR.

Arrived PI Halloween Night, of all nights. October 31, 1963, graduated Jan 29, 1964, then to ITR at Camp Geiger, part of Camp Lejeune, got out of there March 16, 1964, then to MOS school.

I shipped to MCRD San Diego, 30 Nov 1980. Graduated 20 Feb 1981. Spent the next 30 years in. What a ride .

Just joined the site and saw Sgt0811 post. I was a member of 245 and your right Solmes was the most hated. When I got to my post in 2/5 some of my buddies were from the other platoons in the series and they said that Sgt. Robinson was the guy they hated most. They nick-named him the "The Voice" and when he sounded reveille the whole series woke up. Can you remember the name of the DI we called the cowboy? Anyway I hope your still out there. M.Wade
