    Historical Question

I am doing research on a Marine who was KIA on Iwo Jima, March 1, 1944. His name is PFC John Hobbs Hubacher, from Sterling, Wayne County, Ohio. The only Marine unit information I can find is "PROVSIGCONSTCO, CORPSSIGBN, 5AC", which make no sense to me. I believe he was dealing with wired communications. Can anyone translate this? Thanks so much.

    Corps Signal Battalion? Provisional?
    Provisional construction company ?
That's all I can think of.
Others may be along to help.
