Savings Bonds (MIA)
While in boot camp in 1987, I began purchasing Savings Bonds. Fortunately, I continued purchasing 2 bonds per month for 3 years until I was deployed in 1990. Years later, I had inquired about them and was told there is no record of any bonds purchased. I have searched Treasury Direct and Safekeeping Bonds with no success. My questions are as follows: 1. Are the bonds forfeit after discharge? 2. Am I inquiring about the bonds to the correct departments. 3. What happens to the bonds after so many tears have past? Thanks in advance for any and all responses to my questions.

Disbursing ??? BUT
Welcome Aboard Doc'
I guess your problem is compounded
serving with the Marines ,
But in the end - we were all paid by
the NavyDepartment.....
No doubt you've paid for th0se bonds,
No doubt they exist.
Someplace on this site is a "Disbursing Specialist",
OR maybe even our Airforce "LEGAL BEGAL"
BUT before he could answer much about your qu3stions - you need be more
specific about WHO and WHERE you asked .

Those bonds - where ever they are,
maximize/mature and stop gaining
interest once they reach maturity.

when I made out an allotment to purchase savings bonds, the bonds were sent to my Mom, I cashed them in when I got home to buy myself a new car... the physical bonds should have been sent to you, or to someone you designated ... your LES should have shown a deduction for the bond purchase, if there is no record of that deduction, you did not buy any bonds... it is possible that the request was never processed...
