    What If....

    What if the Arm Forces had a Union, when we wanted a pay raise, time and a half for over 40 hours a week, take off on holidays, stop fighting and demand hot showers in the field, full pay plus VA compensation after we retire, vested after 10 years in the service with full pay at the age 65, we could go on strike?IUAf) International Union of the Arm Forces.

    Then we'd need to triple the size of the Corps to accomodate all of the coffee breaks. And there would be no NJP as the CO's would be afraid of offending the union boss.

    The United States would cease to exist. The first determined enemy could wait for a strike to begin, then attack us and wipe the fields free of our forces. Who would cross the picket line and break solidarity with the "opressed" MOS striking? Meantime, the enemy would roll up to and over our embassies, possessions, and borders.

    We would lose the whole shebang, lock, stock, and Constitution. Then, the only question would be what language would we need to learn in order to exist in our subjugated country. That is what unionizing would do to the military.

    For comparisons, check out various law enforcement departments and see what happened when "blue flu" broke out in the union "shops." The unions have legitimate purposes in general labor forces, but never in the military. Too much depends on an unencumbered response in times of national peril.

    jryanjack;

    I don't know, do they? If any country did then if probably would be France, Now if we have any French Marines out there maybe they could help us.

    What the hell would we need one for. All you have to do now is whine to the Gy or MSgt about how mean and unfair it is the the Sgt expects you to work and you get what you want. An if you've got kids you rarely have to come to work like anyone else because taking care of them is more important than anything your silly Marine Corps job has for you to do.

    A democratically run military (Army) was tried during the Spanish Civil War (circa 1938). It didn't work! They were the side that lost. Check it out, it makes interesting reading.

    LMAO about French military union posting.
    Sounds about right, considering how they haven't done anything in 30 years except oppose us poitically.
    It is sad to reread how they helped us get started as a nation in the Revolutionary War.
    How the mighty have fallen.

    Your reply hasn't anything to do with this subject.

    If the Military had a union then we could stay home when our kids got sick, complain when others didn't show up on time, get out of going on overnight details, deploy overseas when we had unmarried personnel to go, like someone said need a lot more servicemen to fulfill our commitments. What I was getting at wouldn't it be ironic if we were run like a union.
